Security Officer

PAY RATE:

£15.40 per hour

HOURS:

30 hrs per week Mon- Fri 1400-2000

THE ROLE:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Security Officer to join our team in Sunderland. The Security Officer will be responsible for overseeing the security operations and ensuring the safety of our premises, employees, and visitors. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in security procedures, and the ability to handle emergency situations with calmness and efficiency.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Welcome guests, employees, and contractors in a polite, professional, and helpful manner.
  • Manage sign-in/sign-out procedures via visitor management systems.
  • Verify the identity of all individuals requesting access, including checking ID cards for tampering or expiry.Issue visitor, contractor, or temporary staff badges and passes
  • Conduct regular patrols of the premises to deter unauthorised access and identify potential security risks.
  • Control entry and exit points to prevent unauthorised entry or tailgating.
  • Maintain detailed logs of security activities, incidents, and observations for reporting purposes.
  • Collaborate with local law enforcement or emergency services during incidents or investigations.

SKILLS:

  • You must have experience of dealing with a variety of situations and be very customer service focused.
  • You must be able to communicate clearly and effectively, attaining a good standard of verbal and written English.
  • Good organisational and record-keeping skills are essential
  • You must be IT literate and able to use Microsoft Office applications.
  • You should well-presented always.

LICENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • You must have a valid SIA licence.

INTERVIEW REQUIREMENTS:

  • Eligibility documents needed at interview: Passport or Full Birth Certificate; Utility Bill showing current address and dated within 3 months; Proof of National Insurance (Payslips cannot be used) such as NI card, P45, P60, benefits or HMRC letter.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • You must be able to provide check-able 5-year employment history for vetting purposes (this can include full-time education or periods in receipt of benefits).
