The Security

Safety is paramount and an absolute priority across the c2c network.

C2c make this clear by stating that they will “only do what is safe and stop any unsafe behaviour”. Amulet play a vital role in assisting c2c in achieving this goal.

The management and control of all who use the stations provide the biggest security challenge for Amulet. Peak flows at busy stations such as Fenchurch Street alone can exceed 25000 commuters on a busy morning. The challenge is to manage this flow safely, maintain a secure environment and prevent any loss of revenue.

An ever-present threat of an attack on the rail network provides the need for a high level of vigilance from the Amulet teams. A constant security challenge that reinforces the need to share information and intelligence and report any suspicious activity

Progress and

The development of Amulet’s security provision to c2c over 15 years is a direct result of the excellent partnership between the parties.

Through working with c2c and understanding their business needs, values and priorities, Amulet progressed both the number of stations it was protecting as well as the services offered. From an initial base of eight stations and security patrol cover Amulet now provide a host of additional services including:

  • Platform checks, patrols and Incident reporting
  • Gateline management
  • Peak flow management to avert delays.
  • Management of end of line trains and “Lockout”
  • Specific rail training courses designed and implemented
  • Support for Revenue Protection teams with RSAS accredited teams

Amulet provide dedicated rail teams to c2c under the management of dedicated 24-hour supervision and a dedicated contract manager. Fully audited training courses are designed and provided by Amulet following close consultation with c2c.

This cooperation between Amulet and c2c has created an environment in which the security service has been adapted and designed to work perfectly across the network of stations.
