London Zoo is committed to providing a safe and secure environment for its animals, staff and visitors. As part of international science-led conservation charity ZSL (the Zoological Society of London), the conservation zoo is home to more than 300 species, many of which are threatened or extinct in the wild and part of vital global breeding programmes.
London Zoo was the first scientific zoo in the world and has continually evolved to meet the changing needs of its animals and visitors. Working with Amulet, they recently set out to enhance the existing CCTV security across the site, with Amulet engineers brought in to upgrade to a state-of-the-art system that utilised the existing IT infrastructure at the zoo while employing the latest technology – including deep learning algorithms and high-definition IP cameras.

In addition to visitor safety, the conservation zoo’s wildlife experts were also supported with the installation of integrated CCTV to enable detailed animal behaviour analysis. These additional cameras were placed discretely inside animal areas, allowing the teams to further monitor the animals and ensure their wellbeing. The installation of CCTV behind the scenes also allows the ZSL team to share more data on animal behaviour with ZSL’s conservationists and scientists, to support wildlife conservation in the field.
The state-of-the-art CCTV and security technology we have implemented at London Zoo under Amulet’s expert guidance has enabled us to stay ahead of the curve in providing a safe, fun, and educational day out – while supporting our vital, science-led conservation work across the world.
