PAY RATE:

£12.21 per hour

HOURS:

25 hrs per week, overtime available

THE ROLE:

To provide security presence at station ticket barriers, offering a customer facing high profile level of reassurance, reducing and preventing unauthorized access to the railway and ticketless travel.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • At all agreed times, staffing ticket barriers
  • Provide a clearly identifiable and visible security presence for passengers on stations.
  • Reduce ticketless travel through ejecting ticketless travellers at stations where identified by client staff.
  • Proactive enforcement of railway byelaws through physical intervention skills where applicable.
  • Assist client staff in times of disruption ensuring customer needs are addressed.
  • Carry out proactive security checks, following the HOT and WHAT protocols.
  • Assisting members of the public and providing directions.
  • Ensuring all health and safety procedures are adhered to.
  • Providing a high level of customer service.
  • Assist with crowd control as required.
  • Responding to onsite incidents and notifying the appropriate authorities.
  • Reporting and recording onsite incidents.
  • Update daily log and activity sheets.

SKILLS:

  • You have at least one year of security experience.
  • You are capable of dealing with a variety of situations and are very customer service-focused.
  • You are able to communicate clearly and effectively, attaining a good standard of verbal and written English.
  • You have good organisational and record-keeping skills.
  • You are IT literate and able to use Microsoft Office applications.
  • You are well-presented at all times.

LICENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • You must have a current SIA security Licence.
  • Possession of a First Aid at Work Certificate is desirable.

INTERVIEW REQUIREMENTS:

  • Eligibility documents needed at interview: Passport or Full Birth Certificate; Utility Bill showing current address and dated within 3 months; Proof of National Insurance (Payslips cannot be used) such as NI card, P45, P60, benefits or HMRC letter.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • You must be able to provide a checkable 5-year employment and address history for vetting purposes (this can include full-time education or periods when claiming benefits).
